The River's meeting

The Missouri River and its challenges

Last year's rains were pretty damaging in Missouri, as I learned over a video meeting with a group of people committed to improving security conditions in the Missouri River's levees.

One of my stories this week was about that problem. The Missouri Department of Natural Resources is having a series of meetings addressing concerns with annual floodings in towns by the Missouri River, gathering feedback from inhabitants about solutions, like reinforcing levees, and protections.

It was interesting getting to know about the state's issues, particularly one that has gotten worse and worse over the last few years as a possible consequence of global warming. I'll try to keep an eye on this matter and listen to the community's voices on future stories.
